flowers - a bit brighter

Flowers in the kiln.

Flowers prior to cleaning.

At least they are brighter than the last kiln load.

Lost it ? ? ?

It's been awhile.
I seem to have lost something in the last month.

I think the only way to find it again is to work with glass.
I hoped that the glass would just "come to me".

Obviously that didn't happen.

So . . .

This was my attempt yesterday.

Well - to be fair - this is not black, but transparent, dark amber. It didn't work.

I also experimented with some glassline paint that I purchased last spring and had never used.
This gave me some ideas, but nothing is completed yet.

Today - after my attempts yesterday w/ dark colors - I have some bright flowers in the kiln. Not sure where I am going with them, but I hope the color will inspire me.

My goal is to fire the kiln often this week.
I'll keep you posted.

Signs of the end of summer

In the kiln tonight: slumping a black dish.

Simple.

Clean.

Hope to make it as a donation for a raffle to benefit women.

Is it strange that I like wonky?

My bowl -

I think the slump over the ss mold was a bit hot and the edges are a bit wonky.
I like wonky.

You?

:-) Amber Bowl

August brought a lot of work hours and a trip to the Rocky Mts, but not much glassing.

The mountains were breath-taking.

We did accomplish some short hikes and sightseeing.

Amber bowl w/ red embellishments:

Prior to its first fuse (full fuse) for my amber bowl w/ red embellishments.

This morning - I am slumping over a ss bowl mold that has been kiln washed.

Note: my fail in cutting a circle . . . one side broke:-(
I really wanted the bowl to be this size, so I am trying to use the broken circle.
In the top photo you can see my attempt to hide the broken piece by placing clear frit over the seam. In the bottom photo you can see that I failed because the seam where the glass broke can still be seen.

I am always learning and being humbled by the glass.

Friday - going in many directions

My last kiln run has been done for a few days.

I liked it,
but it wasn't what I wanted.
I now realize that I shouldn't have taken this piece to a full fuse.

I have placed it in my basement window to ponder
and I'm re-creating it now in a smaller version with a partial fuse rather than a full fuse.

It's sharing the kiln with a piece for a garden stake.

I weeded the garden this morning and found my mystery lily in bloom. I love the ethereal qualities of this flower. The leaves show in the spring and then die back until late July when the flower blooms.

I am also attempting a new design using some fused circles.

I feel as if my muse is on vacation with this design, but if I ponder long enough . . .  either I will put it away or something with come to me.

:-)

Not an exact science.
