New project

The new year brought a new office in an old day job. Not a choice, but a necessity due to fire damage in an old building that housed my old office. Arg. The new office is a much smaller space with no windows to the outside and it has a door window into a very public hall. I have designed a stained glass piece that will cover this door window and still allow light through.

Light, but not a full view of me working.
I also wanted to use these fused circles that I made a long time ago.

I have worked this weekend on getting it soldered.

My next challenge will be how to get it to stay securely in place without damaging the office door.

Progress

I really like how the fuchsia dish turned out.
This is the first kiln project in a while.
I hope to continue this momentum.

My stained glass project progressed nicely yesterday. I don't have enough of the right color for the border, so I thought I would just get the flowers framed in clear. You can't tell in the photo, but the clear glass that I am using has a leaf texture. I want to create a border in amber or green. I will visit our local glass shop next week to check out their selection.

Happy glassing!

new projects

A few new projects in the works -

I have decided that I need to keep my soldering skills honed otherwise when I do a stained glass project the re-learning time kills the project and my creativeness (is that a word?).
Therefore I need solder more than once every 4 years.    :-)
I fused some flowers in clear glass squares for the center pieces in this stained glass panel. I am in the process of designing the panel. I hope the idea in my head - makes it to paper and then glass.

In the kiln now is a fuchsia colored square dish that is slumping. I used some subtle iridescent glass elements. I hope this mold that I am slumping over works; I will know in a few short hours.

I am enjoying time for creating glass today. Happy Saturday!

Almost done with this piece -

Almost done with the stained glass piece with bevels.

I just need to clean up my solder. I haven't soldered for months and this is one skill that if you don't use, you lose. I really had a hard time getting my solder to flow the way that I wanted it to.

I like how the piece is turning out. I can't wait to see it hanging in the front window.

Happy Saturday -
This weekend brings a full day for getting the house in order/laundry/bulb planting/glass work (both warm and stained)/grocery shopping/etc. . . . . I can't wait. Oh I love to get all these small jobs done - It makes me feel centered.

This is the stained glass project I'm going to finish today.

I have never worked w/ bevels in a stained glass project and wanted a panel for my front window that was larger than my small piece that has been there for years. I have all the glass cut and placed as well as all the pieces foiled. I didn't have enough solder to finish this, but now I do.
