acorns - color and shape

I've been working on acorns recently after finding one in the lawn under an oak tree.

I've been having fun with color, transparency, and shape.

Yesterday I continued these acorns and started to make them larger and more elaborate while not staying true to form, but loving the results.

Drawer pulls and more

I had a wonderful time making drawer pulls for my new for me glasswork area organizer. I relished making each one different.

I'm biased, but I think the new storage dresser is magnificent.

I also have worked on a new pendant. A bit of red, white, and blue for the upcoming 4th of July.

And a new fused glass bowl made completely out of strips of glass.

New Project

I have been working behind the torch making flowers in the last few months. I entered my glass flowers into the local art show and sold a piece, which was a good affirmation for me since the flowers and vases in the wood block were my design.

The piece was entitled 'Bee-utiful Flowers'.

I also sold a similar flower piece for Mother's Day to my daughter's friend.

There have been my new bees -

And now my new project -

New to me dresser - no drawer pulls

My glass workshop has a new (to me) organizer that I painted and it needs new drawer pulls.

I ordered some new drawer pull hardware and have been making drawer pulls. I am going to make each pull a different color and design including flowers. This project gives me a great excuse to play with glass and experiment. I am excited to have a new organizer in my studio that has my glass showcased on it.

Reactions & New Mold

I have really enjoyed playing with reactive glass. Above is the latest reactive dish slumped into a subtle curved shape.

I splurged this week and purchased a new glass slumping mold - a ball bowl.

I love the shape and have been waiting to slump this glass into a shape, but didn't have a mold large enough.

New Work

The birdbath bowl worked well for a large slump.

Sometimes I have issues slumping large projects. I used a conservative kiln schedule and it seemed to have worked well.

I am still into reactive glass.
This is a new color for me. It's Salmon Pink.
I don't see the pink, it is a very pretty brown/tan.

It is finishing the slump into a dish right now in the kiln.

I also have been playing with more recycled glass and enamels.
I love the tie dyed look.
